Cognitive Behaviour TherapyCognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a focused approach to the treatment of many types of emotional, behavioural and psychiatric problems. CBT helps individuals to identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviours and learn healthier skills and habits. CBT has been practiced widely for more than 30 years. It has been researched extensively, and has demonstrated effectiveness with a variety of emotional, psychological and psychiatric difficulties, such as anxiety, trauma, depression, low self-esteem etc.
Acceptance and Commitment TherapyAcceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is about accepting what is outside our personal control, while committing to action that will improve our quality of life. The aim of ACT is to help create a full and meaningful life, while effectively handling life stress. This is done by teaching psychological skills to deal with painful thoughts and feelings through the process of mindfulness, and helping to clarify what is most important and meaningful to us, in terms of values, and using that knowledge to guide and motivate one to make positive changes in one’s life.
Mindfulness TherapyMindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is designed to help people who suffer repeated bouts of depression, anxiety and stress. It combines the ideas of cognitive therapy with meditative practices, based on mindful awareness. MBCT has been used successfully with chronic health issues, including cancer.

HypnotherapyHypnotherapy (or Clinical Hypnosis) works with the unconscious (subconscious) mind. Our mind is like an iceberg. The top of the iceberg is the conscious mind, which is only 5-10% of our mind. The rest is the unconscious or subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy directs suggestions to the unconscious mind to help overcome the present difficulties. It can help with confidence building, changing unhealthy habits (such as smoking, overeating, excessive drinking, gambling, nail biting, teeth grinding, hair pulling), anxiety, depression, fears and phobias (such as flying, lifts, crowds, injections, spiders, snakes, birds, public speaking). It is also helpful in enhancing the immune system, and can be particularly useful in cancer and oncology.
Eye Movement Desensitization and ReprocessingEye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro. It is an evidence based approach designed to manage Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and symptoms of trauma. EMDR is based on the understanding that negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours are due to unprocessed memories. The goal is to reduce the distress generated from these long standing memories by creating connections within memory networks to help process the traumatic memory. Thus, EMDR utilizes techniques that helps create connections within memory networks to process the traumatic memory. The technique also uses bilateral stimulation such as repeated side to side eye movements.

Schema TherapySchema Therapy aims to go back to the root of the problem by helping people work through their (often unconscious) deeply entrenched childhood beliefs, memories, and experiences. It is used with great success where problems do not respond to the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or other forms of therapy. Schemas are defined as internalised maladaptive childhood beliefs and experiences, which continue to be triggered throughout adulthood. When schemas are triggered we regress to behaving and feeling like a child again, and often behave in ways that are unhelpful. Schema Therapy is a compassionate and caring approach to re-visiting our difficult childhood experiences in a supportive and caring manner, and obtaining assistance form the therapist to modify the influence of the past.
NeuropsychotherapyNeuropsychotherapy uses our understanding of the brain and the brain's ability to change (also called neuroplasticity) to assist in working through any psychological difficulty or mental health issue. The client is helped to understand how the brain functions via simple diagrams and the model of the brain, and to learn strategies and techniques to change the brain and its functioning.
